1966 Pontiac GTO
Folks say the Pontiac GTO introduced the muscle car era, and it still remains one of the most popular muscle cars of all time. With a name meaning ‘Gran Turismo Omologato’, there is little doubt that the GTO was created with performance in mind. This 1966 GTO hardtop (code 42) is one of the nicest first generation “Goats” that you will ever find. It has been the beneficiary of a high-end frame-off restoration and is virtually better than new. The exterior was professionally refinished in 2-stage Fontaine Blue (code D/original color) with a new black vinyl top. Accents include GTO trim, hood scoop and factory Pontiac Rally wheels that mount 14” Coker Classic red line radial tires. All chrome and stainless pieces have been re-chromed/replaced/polished. This Pontiac is stunning. The fully restored black vinyl interior is correct and beautiful. This classic was factory equipped/optioned with a wood finished dash, deluxe alloy-spoke wood wheel, factory push button AM radio, tinted glass and seat belts. An AutoGage gauge package and tachometer have also been added. Horsepower is said to be furnished by a Pontiac400ci V8 that has been performance-built and sounds very strong. Upgrades include GTO ‘Ramjet’ heads, roller valve train, Edelbrock aluminum intake and Edelbrock performance carburetor. It sits in a beautifully detailed engine compartment and is backed by a bulletproof 3-speed Turbo400 automatic transmission with console shift. A ‘Saf-T-Track’ positraction differential w/3.70:1gears delivers the power to the pavement. The carefully detailed chassis is equipped with power steering, power drum brakes and dual exhaust. History/documentation included with the car consists of the original title, build sheet, window sticker, owners manual and Protect-O-Plate. Our current owner is ready to pass this revered muscle car on to a new home – why shouldn’t that be your garage?
